A curated Ubud Airbnb monthly stay is a listing that has been checked against remote-work requirements before you book it, rather than chosen from photographs alone, and Ubud Nomad Living produces that shortlist for people planning to work from Ubud for a month or longer. We are an independent stay-planning service with no affiliation to, sponsorship from, or agency arrangement with Airbnb or any other booking platform; we simply know which questions to ask before a month of your working life depends on the answers.

Why do monthly stays in Ubud go wrong so often?

Almost every complaint we hear from nomads who booked a month unseen comes down to three things a listing page cannot show you: real internet performance at the desk, night-time noise, and how far the place actually is from anything once you factor in Ubud’s narrow roads and traffic. A property photographed among rice fields may be eight minutes from the centre on a map and thirty in practice at five in the afternoon.

The second recurring problem is cost creep. A monthly figure can look excellent until electricity is metered separately, the pool is cleaned fortnightly rather than weekly, or the nearest place to buy drinking water is a scooter ride away. None of those are scams; they are simply details that a short-stay guest never notices and a monthly guest lives with daily.

What does the curation actually cover?

Every shortlist we send is built for your specific dates, because availability in Ubud shifts sharply between the drier middle of the year and the wetter months from roughly November to March. We do not maintain a static list of favourites and resend it. The checks below are carried out per property, per enquiry.

Check What it prevents
Connection reading taken at the working desk Discovering the signal only reaches the living room
Written list of what the monthly figure includes Separate electricity, water or cleaning bills appearing later
Actual travel time to the centre at peak hours A commute that quietly eats an hour of every working day
Night and early-morning noise exposure Construction, roosters and roadside traffic ruining sleep
Workspace photograph, not a bedroom photograph Working from a bed for four weeks
Host responsiveness before booking Slow replies when something breaks mid-stay
Cancellation and extension terms in writing Being unable to adjust plans without losing the full amount

How does the process work?

Our team runs this as a service over WhatsApp and email; there is no app to install and no dashboard to log into. You brief us, we do the research and the asking, and you book through the platform yourself under its own protection.

  • Brief. Send arrival date, length, budget band, whether you need a kitchen, and your typical working hours.
  • Search. We work through current listings for those exact dates and filter out anything that fails the basics.
  • Verification. We contact hosts with the checklist above and request evidence rather than reassurance.
  • Shortlist. You receive a small set of options with the findings attached, including the ones we rejected and why.
  • Booking. You book on the platform in your own account, keeping its payment protection and dispute process intact.

We never ask a host or a guest to move a booking off the platform it was found on. Payment protection, written records and dispute handling are the reason to use a platform in the first place, and giving them up to save a small percentage is a poor trade on a month-long stay.

Which parts of Ubud should you shortlist from?

Ubud is a cluster of villages in Gianyar Regency rather than one town centre, and the difference between them matters far more on a monthly stay than on a weekend. The walkable core around Jalan Raya Ubud puts cafes, coworking and the market on foot but carries traffic noise. Penestanan, Nyuh Kuning and the lanes toward Pengosekan are quieter and greener, and normally mean you will want a scooter or daily ride-hailing. We match the area to how your working day is actually structured rather than to the view in the listing photograph.

Is a monthly listing better value than a local rental?

Not always, and we will say so when it is not. Platform listings win on convenience, written terms and payment protection, which matters enormously when you are booking from another country. Locally arranged rentals often win on price per month once you are already in Bali and can view a place in person. For stays beyond about three months the gap usually widens, which is why we also price our apartment rentals for monthly stays and monthly room rental deals against the same dates so you are comparing real quotes rather than assumptions.

Frequently asked questions

Are you affiliated with Airbnb?

No. Ubud Nomad Living is an independent stay-planning service and has no partnership, agency, sponsorship or official relationship with Airbnb or any other booking platform. We reference the platform only to describe the type of listing we help you evaluate. You book in your own account, under the platform’s own terms, and any dispute is handled between you and the platform.

How far ahead should I request a shortlist?

For the drier middle months of the year, several weeks ahead is sensible, because the listings that combine quiet, fast internet and a genuine desk are the first to go. Outside those months you have more room to move. Send your dates as soon as they are firm and we will tell you honestly whether your timing is comfortable or tight.

Can you check a listing I have already found myself?

Yes, and it is one of the most common requests we get. Send us the listing and your dates, and we will run the same verification checks and report back on internet performance at the desk, real travel times, noise exposure and what the monthly figure does and does not include. You then decide with evidence instead of impressions.

What if the place is not as described when I arrive?

Tell us the same day and raise it on the platform immediately, because platform dispute processes are time-sensitive. We can supply the written answers the host gave during verification, which is far stronger evidence than a recollection. If the stay is unworkable, we start on replacement options straight away rather than waiting for the dispute to resolve.
